The Center for Clinical Research in Oncology (CPCO) began operations in 2008 as a result of the partnership between the Evangelical Hospital of Cachoeiro (HECI), and Institute of Oncology South Capixaba (IOSCO).

The HECI is a private philanthropic that provides medical services to the population of the southern state of Espirito Santo, which comprises about 600 000 people and has Itapemirim as city center. The variety of services offered in almost all medical specialties, with the latest equipment, and outstanding technical capability of its clinical staff, the HECI Hospital Unit is classified as High Complexity.

The IOSCO is an extension of the Centre for Cancer Treatment (CACON) of HECI, created in 2003 with the objective of providing an appropriate place for the care of cancer patients. With a multidisciplinary team, the IOSCO / CACON develop treatment strategies tailored to the needs of individual patients.

The CPCO is designed to leverage the expertise and physical infrastructure, logistics and operational HECI and IOSCO to conduct clinical trials of phase II, III and IV in partnership with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, to organizations representing clinical research organization (CRO), universities and research centers in Brazil and abroad.
